Target Information
DIABLO (also known as SMAC) is a mitochondrial protein involved in the activation of apoptosis through neutralization of IAP (inhibitor of apoptosis) family proteins.
During apoptotic signaling, DIABLO exits the mitochondria and enters the cytosol, contributing to mitochondrial-mediated apoptosis crucial for tissue homeostasis.
Alterations in this process are linked to various malignancies. DIABLO also plays a key role in sensitizing cancer cells to apoptosis, both immune and drug-induced.
