Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration. For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

Anti-Glycerol Kinase is an IgG fraction antibody purified from monospecific antiserum by a multi-step process including delipidation, salt fractionation, and ion-exchange chromatography, followed by extensive dialysis against the specified buffer. Immunoelectrophoresis assay resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Goat Serum as well as purified and partially purified Glycerol Kinase (Cellulomonas species). Cross-reactivity against Glycerol Kinase from other sources is unknown.

Target Information

The product of this gene belongs to the FGGY kinase family of proteins and encodes glycerol kinase. Glycerol kinase is a key enzyme in the regulation of glycerol uptake and metabolism. It catalyzes the phosphorylation of glycerol by ATP, yielding ADP and glycerol-3-phosphate. Defects in this gene cause glycerol kinase deficiency (GKD). Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
