Target Information
PSAP is a highly conserved glycoprotein that serves as a precursor for four cleavage products: saposins A, B, C, and D. Each domain of the precursor protein is approximately 80 amino acids long and shares similar cysteine residue and glycosylation site placement.
Saposins A–D primarily localize to the lysosomal compartment, facilitating the catabolism of glycosphingolipids with short oligosaccharide groups.
The precursor protein exists both as a secretory and an integral membrane protein and exhibits neurotrophic activities.
