MA5-17043 targets CD3 in indirect ELISA, ICC, and IF applications and shows reactivity with human samples. The immunogen is a purified recombinant fragment of human CD3 expressed in E. coli.

Target Information

The CD3 subunit complex is crucial for transducing antigen-recognition signals into the cytoplasm of T cells and regulating the surface expression of the TCR complex. T cell activation through the TCR involves the cytoplasmic tails of CD3γ, CD3δ, CD3ε, and CD3ζ subunits. These are structurally related members of the immunoglobulin superfamily encoded by closely linked genes on human chromosome 11.

CD3 components associate with cytoplasmic signal transduction molecules via a double tyrosine-based motif. CD3 may play roles in TCR-induced growth arrest, cell survival, and proliferation. The CD3 antigen is expressed on 68–82% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes, 65–85% of thymocytes, and Purkinje cells in the cerebellum, but not on B or NK cells. Decreased T lymphocytes may be observed in some autoimmune diseases. Defects in the CD3 gene are associated with CD3 immunodeficiency.
