Target Information
HMGA1 encodes a non-histone protein involved in various cellular processes, including regulation of inducible gene transcription, integration of retroviruses into chromosomes, and cancer metastasis progression.
This protein binds preferentially to the minor groove of A+T-rich DNA regions, exhibits limited secondary structure in solution, and assumes distinct conformations upon binding to DNA or other proteins.
It is frequently acetylated and localized in the nucleus.
