This antibody is predicted to react with mouse, rat, non-human primate, and rabbit based on sequence homology.
Recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific. They combine multiple recombinant monoclonal antibodies, providing both the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies and the specificity of monoclonal antibodies, with the consistency of recombinant production.
While functionally similar to polyclonal antibodies, they recognize multiple epitopes and deliver higher detection sensitivity for low-abundance targets. Each lot contains a reproducible mixture of light and heavy chains, eliminating biological variability seen in traditional polyclonal antibody production.
Note: Formerly called “Recombinant polyclonal antibody”, now rebranded as “Recombinant Superclonal™ antibody”. The product and performance remain unchanged.


Target Information

The tumor suppressor protein p53 is a sequence-specific transcription factor activated by cellular stress. It mediates cell cycle arrest or apoptosis in response to DNA damage or metabolic stress.
p53 activates transcription of genes such as p21waf1, leading to G1 or G2/M arrest. Structurally, p53 includes:

  • N-terminal transactivation domain
  • Central DNA-binding domain
  • Oligomerisation domain
  • C-terminal regulatory domain

Phosphorylation at Ser15 is crucial for activation and stabilization, while Ser392 phosphorylation is associated with tumor formation.
p53 plays a key role in preventing proliferation of damaged cells and acts as an anticancer agent. It is expressed at low levels in normal cells but highly upregulated in transformed cell lines, contributing to malignancy.
Mutations in the TP53 gene cause loss of tumor suppressor activity and are associated with numerous cancers, including Li-Fraumeni syndrome.
