Product Specific Information

Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

Anti-AKT1 antibody is directed against human AKT1. The antibody detects both unphosphorylated and phosphorylated forms of the protein. Cross-reactivity with AKT1 from other species has not been determined; however, the immunogen sequence shows 85% identity to mouse and 92% identity with rat, suggesting expected cross-reactivity.

Target Information

AKT1 (PKB alpha) is a serine/threonine kinase that regulates cell survival. The activated enzyme inhibits apoptosis and stimulates cell cycle progression by phosphorylating various targets in multiple cell types, including cancer cells. It is activated by insulin, PI3K, IGF1, and other growth and survival factors. AKT1 promotes cell survival by inhibiting apoptosis through phosphorylation and inactivation of several targets, including forkhead transcription factors and caspase-9. The AKT pathway is a major focus in cancer drug discovery.
