This antibody specifically recognizes human FXR and cross-reacts with mouse and rat FXR.
Target Information
FXR (Farnesoid X Receptor; NR1H4) is a member of the nuclear receptor superfamily of ligand-activated transcription factors (NR1 subfamily). It acts as a receptor for bile acids such as chenodeoxycholic acid, lithocholic acid, and deoxycholic acid. FXR plays an essential role in bile acid homeostasis through the regulation of genes involved in bile acid synthesis, conjugation, and enterohepatic circulation. It also regulates lipid and glucose homeostasis and participates in innate immune response.
The FXR-RXR heterodimer binds predominantly to FXR response elements (FXREs) containing two inverted repeats of the consensus sequence 5'-AGGTCA-3' spaced by one nucleotide (IR-1), and with lower affinity to tandem repeat DR1 sites. FXR activation influences transcription of several genes involved in bile acid metabolism, conjugation, and transport, including NR0B2, CYP7A1, CYP8B1, SLC10A1/NTCP, SLC27A5/BACS, BAAT, ABCB11/BSEP, ABCC2/MRP2, and ABCB4.
