EGFR은 막관통형 수용체로서, EGF(Epidermal Growth Factor)나 TGF-α(Transforming Growth Factor alpha)와 같은 리간드가 결합하면 이량체화 및 세포질 도메인 내 티로신 잔기의 자가 인산화가 일어납니다. EGFR 과발현은 두경부, 뇌, 방광, 위, 유방, 폐, 자궁내막, 자궁경부, 외음부, 난소, 식도, 위 등 다양한 암에서 관찰됩니다.
