Target Information
GOLPH1, also known as GCP60, was initially identified as a Golgi protein that interacts with the integral membrane protein giantin and is involved in maintaining Golgi structure. It also interacts with other Golgi proteins such as Golgin-160, which can be cleaved by caspases-2, -3, and -7, leading to nuclear localization of Golgin-160 fragments. The interaction between GOLPH1 and Golgin-160 fragments is regulated by the oxidation state of Cys-463 within GOLPH1. Additionally, GOLPH1 interacts with Numb, a cytosolic signaling protein that mediates asymmetric cell division of neural progenitor cells, suggesting a role in coupling cell fate determination with cell cycle progression.
