Target Information
Neurofilaments are intermediate filament proteins specific to neurons, composed mainly of three proteins: NF-L, NF-M, and NF-H.
NF-L (light chain) maintains neuronal caliber and migrates at approximately 70 kDa on SDS-PAGE.
NF-M and NF-H represent medium and heavy chains, respectively, with NF-H migrating at 180–220 kDa.
The expression of these proteins is tissue-specific and developmentally regulated.
