Target Information

The CDH17 gene belongs to the cadherin superfamily, encoding calcium-dependent, membrane-associated glycoproteins.
This cadherin-like protein contains seven extracellular cadherin domains and a transmembrane region but lacks the conserved cytoplasmic domain.
It is expressed in the gastrointestinal tract and pancreatic ducts, functioning as an intestinal proton-dependent peptide transporter involved in the absorption of peptide-based drugs.
Additionally, it may play a role in the morphological organization of the liver and intestine.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
