Target Information
A cluster of genes, BAT1–BAT5, is localized near the TNF alpha and TNF beta genes. The EHMT2 gene is mapped close to the C2 gene within a 120-kb region that includes a pair of HSP70 genes. These genes are located in the human major histocompatibility complex class III region. Initially thought to be two separate genes (NG36 and G9a), recent studies confirm it as a single gene. The encoded protein is involved in intracellular protein-protein interactions. Three alternatively spliced transcript variants exist, with two fully described.
