Calpain은 작은 조절 서브유닛과 세 가지 큰 촉매 서브유닛(Calpain 1, 2, 3) 중 하나로 구성된 이합체입니다.
Calpain 3 (Calpain p94)는 근육 특이적 칼슘 활성화 중성 프로테아제로 핵에 위치하며, Limb-girdle muscular dystrophy type 2A와 관련된 유전자 변이와 연관되어 있습니다.
Calpastatin은 Calpain의 단백분해 활성 및 막 결합을 억제하여 Calpain을 조절하며, 조직형 및 적혈구형 두 가지 형태로 존재합니다.
