Product Specific Information
- Reconstitution:
Reconstitute with 25 µL, 50 µL, or 0.2 mL of double distilled water (DDW), depending on sample size.
The antibody is shipped lyophilized at room temperature. Upon arrival, store at -20°C.
Reconstituted solution can be stored at 4°C for up to 1 week.
For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C.
Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Centrifuge all antibody preparations before use (10,000 × g, 5 min).
Target Information
Scn5a is an integral membrane protein and a tetrodotoxin-resistant voltage-gated sodium channel subunit primarily found in cardiac muscle. It is responsible for the initial upstroke of the action potential in an electrocardiogram.
Mutations in SCN5A are associated with Long QT Syndrome Type 3 (LQT3) and Brugada Syndrome 1.
Alternative splicing produces several isoforms. Voltage-gated sodium channels (VGSCs) mediate regenerative depolarization and conduction of electrical signals in nerves and muscles.
Expression of Scn5a is also detected in lymphocytes, glia, and fibroblasts. It mediates voltage-dependent sodium ion permeability of excitable membranes, forming sodium-selective channels responsive to voltage changes.
Functionally, Scn5a contributes to action potential initiation and propagation, with channel inactivation regulated by intracellular calcium levels.
