Product Specific Information

PA3-981 detects c-Myc tagged proteins.
It has been successfully used in immunofluorescence, immunoprecipitation, and Western blot procedures.
By Western blot, it detects a ~41 kDa protein representing c-Myc.
The PA3-981 immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues M E Q K L I S E E D L G C of human c-Myc.

Target Information

Myc is a proto-oncogene encoding a nuclear phosphoprotein that plays a role in cell cycle progression, apoptosis, and cellular transformation.
The encoded protein forms a heterodimer with the transcription factor MAX, binding to the E-box DNA consensus sequence to regulate transcription of target genes.
Amplification of this gene is frequently observed in numerous human cancers.
Translocations involving this gene are associated with Burkitt lymphoma and multiple myeloma.
Translation initiates from both an upstream non-AUG (CUG) and a downstream AUG start site, producing two isoforms with distinct N-termini.
