Target Information
TMED2 is a protein coding gene involved in vesicular protein trafficking. It mainly functions in the early secretory pathway and post-Golgi membranes. TMED2 acts as a cargo receptor for incorporating secretory molecules into transport vesicles and contributes to vesicle coat formation. In COPII vesicle-mediated transport, it is involved in the movement of GPI-anchored proteins and interacts with TMED10, SEC24C, and SEC24D. It also plays a role in COPI vesicle-mediated retrograde transport by regulating ARFGAP1 activity, ensuring proper cargo selection. TMED2 is associated with trafficking of GPCRs such as F2RL1, OPRM1, and P2RY4, and facilitates CASR maturation and Golgi apparatus organization.
