FGFR2는 receptor tyrosine kinase 계열인 FGFR family의 구성원으로, angiogenesis, mitogenesis, osteogenesis, myogenesis, carcinogenesis, cellular differentiation, tissue repair 등 다양한 세포 기능 조절에 관여합니다.
FGFR family는 암, 류머티즘 관절염, 당뇨병성 망막병증 등 여러 질환과 관련되어 있습니다.
FGFR2 유전자 변이는 Crouzon syndrome, Pfeiffer syndrome, Craniosynostosis, Apert syndrome, Jackson-Weiss syndrome, Beare-Stevenson cutis gyrata syndrome, Saethre-Chotzen syndrome 등과 관련이 있습니다.
이 유전자는 다양한 alternative splicing을 통해 여러 isoform을 생성합니다.
