Target Information
HSPC142 is a component of the BRCA1-A complex, which specifically recognizes Lys-63-linked ubiquitinated histones H2A and H2AX at DNA lesion sites. This recognition targets the BRCA1-BARD1 heterodimer to sites of DNA damage at double-strand breaks (DSBs).
The BRCA1-A complex also possesses deubiquitinase activity that removes Lys-63-linked ubiquitin from histones H2A and H2AX. Within the complex, HSPC142 is required for integrity and localization at DSBs.
It may also function as part of the BRISC complex, which cleaves Lys-63-linked ubiquitin, maintaining stability of BRE/BRCC45 and supporting BRCC3/BRCC36-mediated deubiquitinase activity.
