Target Information

JMY acts both as a nuclear p53/TP53 cofactor and a cytoplasmic regulator of actin dynamics depending on conditions.
In the nucleus, it increases p53/TP53-dependent transcription and apoptosis through interaction with p300/EP300, playing an important role in stress responses such as DNA damage.
In the cytoplasm, JMY functions as a nucleation-promoting factor for both branched and unbranched actin filaments, activating the Arp2/3 complex and catalyzing actin polymerization.
It contributes to cell motility by controlling actin dynamics and promoting rapid formation of branched actin networks.
The activities of JMY are regulated via its subcellular localization.
