Product Specific Information
This GF28R monoclonal antibody reacts with green fluorescent protein (GFP), originally isolated from the cnidarian Aequorea victoria. GFP is a 27-kDa protein that absorbs blue light (395 nm) and emits green light (509 nm) without requiring exogenous substrates or cofactors.
These properties make GFP ideal for monitoring gene expression and protein localization in vivo. Mutant forms of GFP with enhanced fluorescence and shifted excitation maxima are useful for flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, and double-labeling applications.
This antibody can stain formaldehyde-fixed cells.
Applications Reported: Immunoprecipitation and Western blotting.
Applications Tested: Immunoblotting of reduced cell lysate expressing GFP ≤ 1 µg/mL. Titrate for optimal performance.

Target Information
The jellyfish Aequorea victoria contains GFP that emits light during bioluminescence. GFP is widely used as a reporter protein for gene expression and as a protein tag in eukaryotic and prokaryotic organisms.
