Target Information
TIP60 is a transcription factor originally identified as an HIV-1 TAT-interactive protein. It interacts with the viral TAT protein, leading to HTATIP polyubiquitination and degradation.
Belonging to the MYST family of histone acetyltransferases (HATs), TIP60 functions as a catalytic subunit of the NuA4 complex, which acetylates histones H4 and H2A to activate transcription of select genes.
TIP60 acts as a co-regulator of transcription factors and can either promote or suppress tumorigenesis. It plays important roles in DNA repair, apoptosis, and signal transduction.
