Target Information
The 20S proteasome is a protease complex responsible for cytosolic protein degradation and generation of peptide ligands for MHC class I molecules. Upon IFN-gamma stimulation, constitutive subunits LMP2, LMP7, and MECL-1 (LMP10) are replaced to form immunoproteasomes, which enhance class I antigen processing. Different combinations of these subunits can produce up to 36 proteasome subsets with distinct cleavage specificities.
