Target Information
MLH1 is a DNA mismatch repair protein essential for maintaining the integrity of genetic information. Defects in mismatch repair can lead to microsatellite instability (MSI), associated with carcinogenesis. Mutations in mismatch repair genes, including MLH1, are linked to hereditary nonpolyposis colon cancer (HNPCC). MLH1 forms a complex with PMSH following MSH2 recognition of mismatched nucleotides, facilitating subsequent repair steps.
