Target Information
TAOK2 (TAO1) is a serine/threonine kinase that may regulate the stress-responsive p38 MAP kinase pathway. In vitro, TAO2 activates MEK3, MEK4, and MEK6 toward their substrates p38 MAP kinase and JNK/SAPK. TAO kinases play an essential role in signaling from physiological agonists to stress-responsive MAPK pathways. Autophosphorylation of TAO may contribute to its activation mechanism, with Ser181 located within the MEK binding domain.
