Product Specific Information

This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%) to prevent contamination.

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. Antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits are cloned and screened to select optimal production candidates.

Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:

  • Better specificity and sensitivity
  • Lot-to-lot consistency
  • Animal origin-free formulations
  • Broader immunoreactivity to diverse targets due to larger rabbit immune repertoire

This antibody specifically recognizes Rat FAS/TNFRSF6/CD95.

Target Information

FAS (Fas, CD95, APO-1) is a 46 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein functioning as a cell death receptor in the TNFR superfamily. A soluble form (~26 kDa) also exists. Activation of FAS triggers aggregation of FADD, formation of the death-inducing signaling complex (DISC), and caspase activation leading to apoptosis.

FAS signaling can activate NF-κB, MAPK3/ERK1, and MAPK8/JNK pathways, influencing proliferation in fibroblasts and T cells. Multiple alternatively spliced isoforms exist; those lacking the transmembrane domain may negatively regulate apoptosis.

The Fas/Fas ligand system is implicated in diseases such as AIDS, hepatitis, and cancer, and plays a key role in antiviral immune responses.
