Target Information
The WNT gene family consists of structurally related genes encoding secreted signaling proteins. These proteins are involved in oncogenesis and developmental processes such as cell fate regulation and embryonic patterning.
WNT16 contains two transcript variants diverging at the 5′ termini, likely driven by separate promoters.
- Variant 2: Expressed mainly in the pancreas
- Variant 1: Broadly expressed in adult kidney, placenta, brain, heart, and spleen
WNT15 is also a ligand for members of the frizzled family of seven transmembrane receptors.
