Target Information
Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological functions. Many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and may serve as potential biomarkers for cancer and other diseases.
This gene is one of the fifteen kallikrein subfamily members located in a cluster on chromosome 19.
The protein releases the vasoactive peptide Lys-bradykinin from low molecular weight kininogen and is functionally conserved.
