Target Information
This gene encodes a protein identified in a screen for genes expressed in metastatic cells, particularly mammary adenocarcinoma cell lines. Expression correlates with metastatic potential in certain carcinomas but is also observed in many normal tissues. Although initially thought to be a 70 kDa component of the NuRD complex, it is now believed to represent a distinct but similar protein. Both proteins share domains involved in DNA binding, dimerization, and DNA methylation-related functions. This gene product is likely involved in transcriptional regulation through chromatin remodeling.
