Product Specific Information
The monoclonal antibody DECMA-1 recognizes mouse, human, and canine CD324 (E-cadherin or uvomorulin). E-cadherin is a transmembrane glycoprotein involved in intercellular adhesion, sharing structural features with P- and N-cadherin. Its extracellular domains contain Ca²⁺-binding motifs, while the cytoplasmic domain interacts with catenins and actinins, linking to the cytoskeleton.
E-cadherin is expressed in most epidermal cells and localized at intercellular boundaries of epithelial tissues, maintaining tissue integrity. Loss of E-cadherin function is associated with cancer progression. The DECMA-1 antibody disrupts adhesion in human, mouse, and dog cells.
Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Flow cytometry of MDCK cells; optimal staining achieved by intracellular staining. Recommended ≤0.5 µg/test (100 µL final volume).
Note: Avoid trypsin exposure; E-cadherin is sensitive to trypsin.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.
eFluor™ 660 replaces Alexa Fluor™ 647 (Excitation: 633–647 nm; Emission: 668 nm; Laser: Red).
Target Information
E-Cadherin (epithelial cadherin) is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein with five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail. Mutations in CDH1 (chromosome 16) are linked to gastric, breast, colorectal, thyroid, and ovarian cancers. Loss of E-cadherin contributes to increased proliferation, invasion, and metastasis. It also mediates bacterial adhesion and internalization. E-cadherin is essential for tissue architecture and integrity.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
