Target Information
The jagged 1 protein encoded by JAG1 is the human homolog of the Drosophila jagged protein. Human jagged 1 acts as a ligand for the receptor Notch 1, which is also a human homolog of the Drosophila receptor notch. Mutations in jagged 1 cause Alagille syndrome, and Jagged 1 signaling through Notch 1 plays a role in hematopoiesis.
