For conjugation experiments using this carrier-free antibody, perform an additional desalting step (e.g., Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).
Target Information
The SGK196 gene encodes a protein potentially involved in the presentation of the laminin-binding O-linked carbohydrate chain of alpha-dystroglycan (α-DG), which mediates transmembrane linkages between the extracellular matrix and the cytoskeleton.
Certain pathogens exploit this O-linked carbohydrate unit for host entry.
Loss-of-function compound heterozygous mutations in this gene have been associated with the Walker-Warburg syndrome (WWS) phenotype.
Mice lacking this gene exhibit misplaced neurons (heterotopia) in some brain regions, possibly due to defects in neuronal migration.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
