Integrin alpha 4 (CD49d, ITGA4)는 인테그린 알파 체인 단백질군에 속하며, 베타1 또는 베타7 체인과 결합하여 헤테로다이머를 형성합니다. Alpha4 체인은 integrin alpha4beta1 및 alpha4beta7의 리간드 결합 부위를 포함하며, 주요 리간드로 MadCAM, VCAM, fibronectin이 알려져 있습니다. MadCAM은 integrin alpha4beta7의 주된 리간드로, 최근 연구에서는 HIV-1 envelope가 MadCAM을 모방하여 integrin alpha4beta7을 통해 결합 및 신호 전달을 할 수 있음이 밝혀졌습니다. 이는 장 점막 T 세포의 이동과 관련된 중요한 수용체입니다.
