Target Information
The small G protein GDP dissociation stimulator (smg GDS) is a regulator protein acting on small G proteins including Rho and Rap1 family members and Ki-Ras. It stimulates GDP/GTP exchange reactions and inhibits membrane interactions.
This protein contains nine Armadillo repeats and interacts with smg GDS through them. It is concentrated around the endoplasmic reticulum and phosphorylated by v-src, which reduces its affinity for smg GDS.
It serves as a linker between human chromosome-associated polypeptide (HCAP) and KIF3A/B, playing a role in chromosome–motor protein interactions. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
