Target Information
The TFB1M protein is a dimethyltransferase that methylates the conserved stem loop of mitochondrial 12S rRNA. It is also part of the basal mitochondrial transcription complex and is essential for mitochondrial gene expression.
Methylation and transcriptional activities are independent. Variations in this gene may influence the severity of aminoglycoside-induced deafness.
