Target Information
Copper (Cu) is an essential trace metal acting as a cofactor for many enzymes in mammalian cells. Cu-related genetic disorders such as Menkes disease and Wilson disease result from impaired Cu homeostasis. CTR1 is a high-affinity copper uptake protein; its C-terminal domain resembles the Raf kinase family, while the N-terminal region encodes a novel domain. CTR1 mediates copper uptake, influencing Cu homeostasis and embryonic development.
