Target Information
Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins with high biochemical diversity, represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides. They range in molecular weight between approximately 40 kDa and 68 kDa and have isoelectric points between pH 4.9–7.8.
Each cytokeratin subtype is characteristic of specific epithelial types and differentiation stages. Cytokeratin expression patterns are widely used to distinguish epithelial malignancies.
Cytokeratin antibodies assist in tumor differential diagnosis using immunohistochemistry and are also valuable tools in cytopathology and flow cytometric assays.
