Target Information
TNF alpha is a multifunctional proinflammatory cytokine belonging to the TNF superfamily. It is mainly secreted by macrophages and binds to receptors TNFRSF1A/TNFR1 and TNFRSF1B/TNFBR. TNF alpha regulates immune cell activity, proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, lipid metabolism, and coagulation. It typically appears as a 17 kDa band under non-reducing SDS-PAGE conditions. TNF alpha is implicated in immune responses to infections and in tumor necrosis, as well as in diseases such as autoimmune disorders, insulin resistance, and cancer.
