EPHA8는 ephrin receptor 하위군에 속하는 protein-tyrosine kinase 계열의 수용체입니다. EPH 및 관련 수용체들은 특히 신경계에서의 발달 과정에 관여하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. EPHA8은 포유류 신경계 발달 중 축삭 유도(axonal guidance)에 관여하며, 단일 kinase domain과 Cys-rich domain 및 두 개의 fibronectin type III 반복을 포함하는 세포외 영역을 가집니다. ephrin 수용체는 세포외 도메인 서열의 유사성과 ephrin-A 및 ephrin-B 리간드 결합 친화도에 따라 두 그룹으로 나뉩니다.
