Target Information

RPS6KB1 (p70S6K) is a serine/threonine kinase with two non-identical kinase catalytic domains that phosphorylates several residues of the S6 ribosomal protein. It is predominantly localized in the cytoplasm and plays a key role in growth factor-regulated cell proliferation, cell motility, immune response, and tissue repair. p70 S6 kinase acts downstream of phosphoinositide (PI) 3-kinase, targeting the S6 ribosomal protein to enhance protein synthesis and cell proliferation. Amplification and overexpression are observed in certain breast cancer cell lines.
