Product Specific Information

Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
This antibody is predicted to have broad species reactivity.

Target Information

SUMO1 is an ubiquitin-like protein that can be covalently attached to proteins as a monomer or lysine-linked polymer. Covalent attachment via an isopeptide bond requires activation by the E1 complex (SAE1-SAE2), linkage to the E2 enzyme (UBE2I), and promotion by E3 ligases such as PIAS1–4, RANBP2, or CBX4.
This post-translational modification on lysine residues plays a crucial role in nuclear transport, DNA replication and repair, mitosis, and signal transduction.
SUMO1 is involved in targeting RANGAP1 to the nuclear pore complex protein RANBP2. Polymeric SUMO1 chains may undergo polyubiquitination, signaling proteasomal degradation of modified proteins.
SUMO1 may also regulate genes involved in palate development, and mutations can lead to non-syndromic orofacial cleft 10.
