Product Specific Information

The 53-2.1 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD90.2 (Thy-1.2), a GPI-linked membrane molecule expressed by mouse thymocytes, mature T cells, and neurons in CD90.2-expressing strains such as BALB/c, CBA, C3H, C57BL/6, C58/, and SJL. Cells from CD90.1-expressing strains (e.g., PL, AKR) do not stain with 53-2.1. CD90 regulates adhesion and signal transduction in T cells.

Applications Tested: Tested by flow cytometry on mouse splenocytes, recommended ≤0.03 µg/test (100 µL final volume).
Cell number per test: 10⁵–10⁸ cells (empirically determined).
Careful titration recommended for optimal assay performance.

Target Information

CD90.2 (Thy-1) antigen is a GPI-linked glycoprotein member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is expressed in murine T cells, thymocytes, neural cells, Kupffer’s cells, and fibroblasts. Thy-1 participates in cell-cell or cell-ligand interactions during synaptogenesis and other brain events. CD90.2 (~18 kDa) is found on hematopoietic cells, neurons, connective tissue, fibroblast and stromal cell lines, and tumor endothelial cells. In mice, CD90.2 is expressed on all thymocytes and peripheral T lymphocytes.
