Target Information

The protein encoded by the S100A11 gene belongs to the S100 family, characterized by two EF-hand calcium-binding motifs.
S100 proteins are found in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus of various cell types and play roles in cell cycle progression, differentiation, motility, invasion, and tubulin polymerization.
S100 genes are clustered on chromosome 1q21, and altered expression or chromosomal rearrangements have been associated with tumor metastasis.
