• Specificity Comments:
  This monoclonal antibody specifically recognizes the lambda light chain of immunoglobulin and shows no cross-reactivity with kappa light chain or any heavy chains.
  In mammals, antibodies contain two identical light chains, either kappa or lambda, with a normal kappa-to-lambda ratio of approximately 70:30.
  In conditions such as multiple myeloma or other B-cell malignancies, this ratio may be altered.
  Anti-lambda light chain antibodies are useful for identifying leukemias, plasmacytomas, and certain non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas.
  Demonstration of clonality in lymphoid infiltrates indicates malignancy.

Target Information

Immunoglobulins share a basic structure composed of two heavy chains and two light chains (kappa or lambda; ~22.5 kDa each).
Kappa and lambda light chains each have variable and constant regions, which can be distinguished by their antigenic properties.
The typical kappa-to-lambda ratio is 70:30.
Antibodies against kappa or lambda light chains are useful for identifying leukemias, plasmacytomas, and certain non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas.
Detection of clonality in lymphoid infiltrates indicates a clonal and thus malignant process.
