The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Target Information
Constant region of immunoglobulin heavy chains. Immunoglobulins, also known as antibodies, are membrane-bound or secreted glycoproteins produced by B lymphocytes.
In the recognition phase of humoral immunity, membrane-bound immunoglobulins serve as receptors that, upon antigen binding, trigger clonal expansion and differentiation of B lymphocytes into plasma cells secreting immunoglobulins.
Secreted immunoglobulins mediate the effector phase of humoral immunity, eliminating bound antigens (PubMed:22158414, PubMed:20176268).
Each immunoglobulin has two antigen binding sites formed by variable domains of heavy and light chains.
Variable domains are assembled through V-(D)-J rearrangement and undergo somatic hypermutations, enabling affinity maturation after antigen exposure (PubMed:17576170, PubMed:20176268).
