Target Information
GFAP (Glial fibrillary acidic protein)은 class III intermediate filament 단백질 계열에 속하며, 중추신경계의 성상세포 및 일부 신경교세포, 말초신경계의 위성세포와 비수초성 슈반세포에서 강하게 발현됩니다. 또한 신경줄기세포에서도 GFAP 발현이 높습니다. GFAP 항체는 성상세포의 마커로 유용하며, 다양한 뇌종양에서 GFAP의 과발현이 관찰됩니다. 이 단백질은 수정체 상피, 간의 쿠퍼세포, 일부 침샘 종양 세포 및 적혈구에서도 발견됩니다. GFAP는 발달 중 성상세포를 다른 신경교세포와 구분하는 데 사용되며, GFAP 유전자 변이는 희귀 신경질환인 Alexander 병을 유발합니다. 이 유전자는 다양한 스플라이싱을 통해 여러 isoform을 생성합니다.
