Target Information
TAS2R60 is a receptor that may play a role in the perception of bitterness and is gustducin-linked. It may also be involved in sensing the chemical composition of gastrointestinal contents. The receptor activity can stimulate alpha gustducin, mediate PLC-beta-2 activation, and lead to TRPM5 gating. It is expressed in subsets of taste receptor cells of the tongue, exclusively in gustducin-positive cells. Most taste cells may be activated by a limited number of bitter compounds, and individual taste cells can discriminate among bitter stimuli.
