Target Information
Anaplastic Lymphoma Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (ALK) belongs to the insulin receptor superfamily and is vital for brain development. Mutations, rearrangements, and amplifications in the ALK gene are associated with tumors such as anaplastic large cell lymphoma, neuroblastoma, and non-small cell lung cancer.
Chromosomal rearrangement between the ALK gene (chromosome 2) and NPM gene (chromosome 5) produces an oncogenic fusion protein (NPM-ALK). The ALK protein features a transmembrane and extracellular domain, which are absent in the NPM-ALK fusion product. ALK shows high sequence similarity to LTK and plays a key role in neuronal development.
