Product Specific Information

The 2B8 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD117 (c-Kit receptor), also known as Steel factor receptor and stem cell factor receptor. This 145-kDa tyrosine kinase receptor is expressed in hematopoietic progenitor cells, mast cells, and plays a key role in proliferation and differentiation.

Applications Reported: Suitable for flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested on mouse bone marrow cells, recommended ≤ 0.125 µg/test.

Target Information

KIT (c-KIT) is a proto-oncogene encoding a type 3 transmembrane receptor for mast cell growth factor (MGF, stem cell factor). KIT regulates growth and activation of hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells. Mutations in KIT are linked to gastrointestinal stromal tumors, mast cell disease, acute myelogenous leukemia, and piebaldism.

c-Kit is expressed in hematopoietic stem cells, germ cells, mast cells, and gastrointestinal tract Cajal cells. Upon ligand binding, c-Kit dimerizes, activating downstream signaling pathways including Ras/ERK, PI3K, PLC-γ, and JAK/STAT, essential for hematopoiesis, stem cell maintenance, and gametogenesis.
