LEF1 유전자는 high mobility group protein-1과 상동성을 가진 전사 인자(transcription factor)를 암호화합니다. 이 단백질은 T-cell receptor-alpha enhancer의 기능적 부위에 결합하여 최대 enhancer 활성을 부여합니다. Wnt 신호 경로에 관여하며, 모낭 형성과 모세포 분화에 역할을 합니다. 일부 피지샘 종양 및 전립선암 등 다양한 암과 관련이 있습니다. 대체 스플라이싱으로 여러 전사 변이체가 생성됩니다.
